Composition and characteristics
Desmokol contains polyurethane resins, an organic solvent, and modifiers. The composition allows you to securely fasten together a variety of materials. The glue has proven itself when working with fabric, leather, thermoplastic, polyvinyl chloride and rubber materials.
"Desmokol" is often used when gluing products from polyurethane. Although the main purpose of this glue is to glue leather things, the tool has been successfully used to connect metal, glass and plastic products.
Note! "Desmokol" is added to the soles of PVC, so that they gain greater strength.
Advantages of Desmokol:
- The composition is completely transparent, which allows you to leave no traces of repair on the product.
- Moisture resistant. "Desmokol" remains effective even when gluing products whose moisture reaches 25%. In this regard, glue is used in the repair of rubber boats.
- The film formed by glue does not collapse in severe frosts.
- The seam is elastic, and therefore does not collapse under the influence of mechanical stresses.
- Desmokol is convenient to use. Until the seam is completely dry, you can correct the glued area, since the seam retains ductility for some time.
Release form
Glue is offered in a ready-to-use condition (tubes of 50 milliliters or liter cans), in granular form. Large containers are designed for industrial consumers - barrels of 20 and 200 liters.
Granules must first be diluted in a solvent. It is important to use only pure solvent, since the quality of the glue obtained depends on this parameter.

Instructions for use provide the possibility of using glue in three different ways:
- The standard option. Surfaces remove dirt and grease. Next, glue for shoes is applied in a thin layer. After 10 minutes, another layer is applied, after which the glued surfaces are squeezed together.
- Heating. The cleaned surfaces are treated with glue. After 10 minutes, the glued areas are heated with a hairdryer. Recommended temperature is 80 degrees.
- Moisturizing. Clean surfaces are dipped in water, then an adhesive is applied in a thin layer. The treated area is placed under the press. The method is considered the most effective in terms of the quality of the future seam.

Useful Tips
A few recommendations that will allow you to properly handle "Desmokol":
- Glue in granules must be diluted with a solvent. It is best to use acetone. To this end, 1 part of the granules is mixed with 10 parts of acetone.Usually, 200 milliliters of solvent is taken per 20 grams of glue. The resulting mixture was incubated for 7 to 8 hours. To make the process faster, you should maintain the room temperature within 25-30 degrees above zero. The result is a colorless solution. The composition is thoroughly mixed, until a homogeneous mass is obtained.
- Improves the quality of the glue additive called "Desmodur". It is added to Desmokol from this calculation: for 1 part of the adhesive 15 - 20 parts of the additive. As a result, the thermal stability of the adhesive and the strength of the weld formed by it are improved.

Storage and Security
Desmokol can not be stored close to heating appliances. The optimum temperature regime for storing glue is from 20 to 25 degrees above zero.
The shelf life of the adhesive is 1 year from the date of manufacture. This does not mean that in a year Desmokol will completely lose its qualities, but its effectiveness will gradually decrease.
Desmokol refers to fire hazardous substances. It should be stored away from open flames. It is necessary to ensure normal air circulation in the room.
Desmokol can be poured from the factory packaging into a regular plastic bottle. Its qualities will remain, however, tightness should be ensured. The clear bottle should be kept in a dark place.

There are three brands of glue, the performance of which is similar to Desmokol. We are talking about glue "Nairit", I-900, SAR 306.
Nairit shoe glue is made on the basis of polychloroprene rubber and a number of resins. An adhesive is used in the repair of leather and fabric products.
Another analogue of Desmocol, SAR 306, is a resin mixture with rubber. Manufactured by Kenda Farben. SAR 306 is especially effective at gluing all types of skin (both chemical tanning and vegetable). It is considered a more effective tool when working in comparison with Nairit. SAR 306 is used for gluing PVC products.
Another glue used to repair leather products is I-900. This adhesive is highly resistant to moisture and acids.
