In addition, the coloring composition should have a bright color so that it can be seen in bad weather conditions or in the dark.

Features of the choice of dye

The produced paint for road marking can have a different composition, and the choice of reflective enamel will be determined:

• climatic features of the region;
• traffic intensity (for the highway you need to choose a particularly wear-resistant composition, it is better to use two-component enamels);
• physico-chemical characteristics of asphalt.

Most often, for the purpose of marking, it is customary to use the following compositions that glow from the headlights.

Acrylic based

Acrylic paint is easy to use, available as a concentrate. Before use, you just need to dilute it with water to the desired consistency. It can be produced in finished form, in aerosol cans.

Any method can be used to apply acrylic dyes, but aerosol spraying is more commonly used. Acrylic paints and varnishes are suitable not only for asphalt, but also for oil bitumen or concrete pavement. But it is worth remembering that water-dispersion compositions can be washed off with water within half an hour, therefore, when working with them, you need to pay attention to weather conditions.

Based on alkyd resins

Rubber-rubber-based alkyd enamel, the production of which has been recently established, is characterized by high adhesion and wear resistance, has proven itself on highways. The flow rate during marking will fluctuate depending on the nature of the canvas, but a convenient aerosol application method is not suitable for it.

Other options

Other durable enamels with the addition of reflective powders are used when a colorant without reflective properties is already available. Such luminous compositions cannot be used on highways due to the uneven distribution of particles, but they are suitable for drawing lines or signs on not-so-busy roads.

Two-component

These are enamels made using new technologies. Their distinctive feature is the absence of solvents and high saturation with reflective pigments. They have high strength and adhesion, are not damaged even during the operation of snowblowers. Such enamels can be applied signs and lines on any road surface, using various methods: from aerosol to difficult with special machines. Their consumption will be relatively small - up to 500 g per m2. The use of two-component reaction enamels is also suitable for aerodrome marking.

Most often, the following paint brands are used on roads:

• Enamel AK-511;
• "Track".

These Russian-made paint and varnish solutions are adapted to severe climatic conditions, able to withstand high temperature extremes and intense loads.

Line

This dye has the following advantages:

1. It enables tinting. This property is very convenient when you need to make multi-colored markings on a small road section.
2. It is very bright, so it is clearly visible even in foggy conditions.
3. Almost does not fade even in open areas.
4. In order to apply it, any technology can be applied, including the use of special marking machines and pneumatic aerosol devices. It can be produced in aerosol cans.
5. It has a high degree of adhesion, which allows you to get a good picture with low material consumption.
6. The technology of paint production allows it to meet all accepted standards.
7. The solution can be stored at a wide temperature range prior to use.

The dye “Line” has a relatively low cost and a long service life.

Enamel AK-511

Dye AK-511 is economical and has the following qualities:

• low price;
• economical consumption of coloring matter;
• the ability to adjust the intensity of light reflection by adding reflective suspensions to it;
• universality: it can be applied on any foundation using a variety of technologies or manually using a roller;
• wide temperature range for solidification. It is possible to make a drawing on the canvas with this solution at a temperature of 5 to 40 ° C.

Track

Another paint and varnish product, characterized by increased strength and wear resistance, is suitable for applying marking patterns on high-traffic routes or at aerodromes. It has several advantages:

• the universality of the method of application: during operation, you can use both manual and machine methods;
• profitability: consumption is not very large;
• the ability to withstand large mechanical loads, almost without damage even during the operation of snowblowers;
• resistance to ultraviolet radiation;
• immunity to chemicals that are used to eliminate ice;
• low cost.

The choice of dyes for marking should be taken seriously, taking into account all the parameters of the materials, operating characteristics and climatic conditions. Subject to all parameters in the selection, the paint and varnish substance can hold out for a long time without changing color and without erasing under the wheels of the vehicle.
