After application to the surface, the enamel forms a fairly hard film that reliably protects against corrosion. It is mainly used for painting metal coatings.
Appointment
Aluminum, magnesium, copper, steel and titanium surfaces, as well as alloys of various metals, are treated with this enamel. The composition is applied to pre-primed materials. Main scope:
- Internal and external premises of industrial facilities, equipment of river and sea ports.
- Shipbuilding. Resistance to adverse environmental influences and a relatively low cost have made enamel a fairly popular tool for painting small yachts and boats. It is suitable for processing the ship's hull and engine room components.
- Aircraft industry. The suspension is used in the processing of internal elements of aircraft, propellers and other components.
- Equipment and metalwork. EP-140 is applied to factory machines and other industrial equipment, agricultural machinery. Silver enamel has established itself as a protective heat-resistant agent, which is applied to hot pipelines and unit casings.
- Railway transport. EP-140 is resistant to various chemicals contained in exhaust gases. This property makes it suitable for painting the bodies of locomotives and wagons.
Composition and properties
Enamel EP-140 (GOST 24709-81) is a solution of epoxy mixed with organic solvents. It contains dyes and fillers, in particular, a plasticizer. Hardener No. 2 comes with paint, which is added to it in the process of preparing for work.
Products coated with EP-140 are resistant to various climatic influences. Therefore, enamel is treated with objects located both in cities and in rural areas. The composition covers not only the interior, but also the external elements.
The protective properties of the coating give the materials hardness and strength. They do not deteriorate under the influence of moisture, gasoline, oils.
Silver enamel does not lose its qualities at temperatures up to +250 ° С. The use of primers EP-09T and AK-070 allows to give electrical insulation properties to surfaces. The emulsion applied to products made of ferrous metals reliably protects them from aggressive gases, acids and alkalis. In this case, you do not need to first apply the primer.
Various components that make up the product allow it to be stored for a sufficiently long time. After application to the surface, it dries quickly.
to contents ↑Good to know! There are analogues that companies can offer their customers as a replacement for the EP-140. The final decision to purchase depends only on the buyer. However, it should be borne in mind - coatings treated with cheaper emulsions serve much less.In addition, they cannot properly protect the surfaces from corrosion.
Specifications
Depending on the color chosen by the buyer, the cost of a kilogram of enamel will vary. The use of solvent R-5A is allowed, with which you can achieve the required level of working viscosity. The main technical characteristics of the product:
- Drying time - from 2 to 6 hours (at a temperature of + 20 ... 90 ° C).
- Mass fraction of non-volatiles - 34–61%.
- The approximate consumption is 65–85 g per 1 m² (subject to the application of one coat).
- Preservation of properties - for at least 6 hours (after mixing with the hardener and at a temperature of approximately 20 ° C).
The tool is available in various colors. You can select the following:
- white;
- blue;
- yellow;
- green;
- red (including with a brown tint);
- Gray;
- blue;
- the black.
Regardless of color, the emulsion is resistant to negative environmental influences, in particular, it resists the spread of rust
to contents ↑Surface preparation and material handling
Before applying enamel, it is necessary to carefully process the material. Such an operation will save it for a longer time. Surface treatment consists of the following main steps:
- Cleaning the area from dirt and rust.
- Removing old paintwork.
- Degreasing coating.
Before starting work, you need to make sure that the composition is prepared correctly. Enamel must be thoroughly mixed throughout the container. This should be done for at least 10 minutes, during which the product will be properly diluted. Enamel can only be used when it has reached a uniform consistency.
EP-140 protective epoxy enamel can be applied in several ways. The main ones are:
- watering the surface;
- brush painting;
- roller dyeing;
- pneumatic spraying.
Strength is achieved by applying several layers (at least two). A temporary pause between them should be approximately 5 hours if the ambient temperature is within +20 ° C. In some cases, you can dry the surface in a hot way.
This procedure reduces wait times to two hours. After final drying, the coating becomes semi-gloss, uniform.
The emulsion emits toxic substances and is highly flammable. With this in mind, the composition should be used away from food storage places, as well as open flame sources. Store the product should be no more than a year in a place where moisture and direct sunlight do not penetrate.
Enamel painting of rooms, equipment and machinery makes them more durable. In addition, this paintwork material gives a presentable appearance to the surfaces.
