Specifications
Enamel EP-773 is produced according to GOST 23143-83 at the enterprise PKF "Spectrum". According to certificates, the product is intended for application to metal surfaces, which during use will come into contact with alkalis and will be used at elevated temperatures.
According to state standards, such products contain epoxy resins, a number of fillers and pigments. In addition to anticorrosive protection, which is retained by exposure to hot alkaline vapors and liquids, this brand enamel protects the metal from:
- oil solutions;
- gasoline and its analogues;
- ordinary moisture.
to contents ↑Often, paint is used in domestic conditions to protect metal products exposed to atmospheric precipitation. The tool is well suited for painting pipes and other equipment, devices, units and equipment from ferrous, non-ferrous metals.
Enamel Properties
The technical characteristics of the enamel and the surface it creates are as follows:
- coating - smooth, matte or semi-matt;
- drying period - 24 hours at a temperature of 20 degrees, 2 hours at 120 degrees;
- viscosity (measured with a VZ-246 viscometer) - 25-60;
- paint consumption per layer - 60–75 grams / square meter;
- the layer thickness is 20–25 μm; two layers are sufficient.
After infusion of the hardener, the product retains its properties for 24 hours or more. As a solvent, the use of P-646, toluene is acceptable, they can also clean tools after completion of work. Prior to painting, the surface must be primed - for this purpose, EP, AK, VL brands are used.
Color spectrum
The color of the coating of enamels depends on the presence of an anticorrosive filler in them, so its significant change worsens the properties of the enamel. It is produced in cream and green colors, on request the manufacturer can produce paint with a number of other shades, but not all that are desired. The resistance of cream enamel to the action of a 40% potassium hydroxide solution will be 2 hours, while green paint under the same conditions will last 8 hours. Therefore, when choosing a color, it is worth listening to the manufacturer's recommendations.

If the products will be used under the influence of hot alkaline solutions (for example, when it comes to iron containers), it is better to use green enamel. Prior to its application, it is necessary to apply high-quality putty EP-0010, 0020.
Preparatory stage
Immediately before applying the product, make sure that its structure is homogeneous and that the introduction of a solvent is not required. If necessary, paint should be thoroughly kneaded again and mixed with the supplied hardener. The paint instructions always indicate how much base material and hardener should be taken. It is impossible to change the proportions, this will adversely affect the properties of the enamel EP-773.
After the introduction of the hardener, it is necessary to mix the composition for 10 minutes. If the density is excessive, the paint must be diluted with a solvent, then use after 30-40 minutes. Further work is being done on previously primed and dried surfaces. If a metal product is used in a moderately aggressive environment, it is permissible to apply paint on a clean surface - without priming.

In order for the adhesion between metal and enamel to be good, you need to remove rust spots, dirt, dust, traces of oil. Since the enamel EP-773 does not include rust converters, care for the absence of the latter must be done in advance. For cleaning it is permissible to use sandblasting.
Staining technique
For staining, it is recommended to use pneumatic spraying, but in everyday conditions they most often use a brush, roller. This increases the consumption of funds per square meter of surface. Air temperature during work should not be lower than 15 degrees, humidity not higher than 80%.
Drying can be done in a cold (normal) way and hot - with heating up to 120 degrees. Then the drying of the first layer is possible in 2 hours. Otherwise, the second layer is applied only a day after the first. Drying at high temperature additionally makes the enamel film more resistant to aggressive factors.

The paint is flammable, it can not be stored and used near sources of fire. Products are stained with adequate ventilation, wearing protective clothing and respiratory protection with a respirator. After contact with paint, wash the skin well with soap. Storage is permissible at a temperature of –30 ... + 30 ˚С without penetration of water and sunlight.
Analogs of means
It is not recommended to buy cheaper analogues if metal surfaces have to come into contact with aggressive media in the future. The price is reduced by eliminating a number of components, because of which the protective properties of the paint fall. In such paints, chalk, calcite, micromarble are used as substitutes.
It makes sense to save only when painting fences, outdoor furniture, gazebos and other products that do not have to come into contact with alkalis. Otherwise, you need to purchase the enamel EP-773, which will ensure a longer operation of the products.
