Trademark Victor Reinz

Victor Rains has a long history. Back in 1920 in Germany, businessman Hugo Reinz opened a hardware store, and later began to produce various tools and materials for the repair of automobile engines. In 1993, the brand became part of Dana Corporation, while the new Victor Reinz brand was registered at the same time.

Currently, Dana branches are located in 33 countries around the world, and its headquarters is in Ohio, USA. The company specializes in the production of seals, axles, shafts, other parts for SUVs, as well as Victor Rains sealing compounds. The latter are used by many car mechanics and are known throughout the world.

Sealant Application

Products have an extensive scope. They serve as seals for various components of vehicles:

• cylinders;
• cases made of metal, plastic.

With the help of sealants, you can glue headlights, other optical elements, insert car windows. Victor Rains is suitable for electrical insulation and encapsulation of electrical connections, providing a long product life. Basic line sealants

To perform various sealing tasks, two types of formulations can be used - Reinzosil or Reinzoplast.

Victor Reinz Reinzosil

In this group of sealants, two products are presented - Victor Reinz Reinzosil and Victor Reinz Reinzosil-t, both of which are based on silicone:

1. The most popular sealant of this brand is sold in all automotive stores in 70 ml tubes and 200 ml aerosols. It is quick-hardening, neutral - it does not emit acids during polymerization, therefore it is excellent for all metals and alloys. The sealant packaging has anthracite color; after hardening, the composition forms a white seam resembling rubber. He is not afraid of oils, petroleum products, detergents, industrial fluids. It easily tolerates temperature differences within –50 ... + 300 degrees, penetrates into any cracks and gaps.
2. Reinzosil-t. This sealant has almost the same characteristics, but withstands heating only up to +200 degrees and is transparent, not white. It is designed to seal planar joints that have gaps and require sealing. Material sold only in tubes of 70 ml.

Victor Reinz Reinzoplast

This sealant is made not on silicone but on a polyurethane basis, is sold in a blue packaging-tube with a volume of 80 ml and in 300 ml cartridges. Due to the fluidity, the product is suitable for gaps of the minimum thickness (even less than 0.15 mm), it starts working immediately after application.

The sealant is considered non-curing, since it maintains a consistency throughout its service life. It is intended primarily for sealing threaded joints that periodically require replacement. The composition does not deteriorate from vibration, serves at temperatures of –50 ... + 300 degrees, is not afraid of moisture, fuel, oils, process fluids, gases.

Resistance of sealants

Many automotive components and assemblies operate in difficult conditions, while always requiring the use of gaskets. These include gaskets for the head of the block, flange parts, sumps, pallets, pumps. If the connections in the engine, gearbox, transmission, axles are not tight, the assembly will quickly become unusable.

“Victor Raines” sealants are ideally suited for automobile repairs, as they provide reliable sealing of all the above units, suitable for metal, plastic, and composites. Means have high strength and resistance to action:

• mechanical factors - heavy loads, pressure, vibration, shock;
• chemicals - gases, antifreeze, alkalis, acids, oils (mineral, synthetic, semi-synthetic);
• gasoline and diesel fuel;
• temperature differences over a wide range, frequent heating and cooling of the system.

Advantages and disadvantages

Funds are available in a small assortment, but this can be called a plus: sealants are versatile and can replace almost all narrow-profile compositions. Other advantages are:

• high adhesion with plastic and metal, alloys;
• resistance to most mechanical, physical, chemical factors, the impact of which is possible in automotive systems;
• convenient form of release, the ability to choose the right amount;
• metered feed, the implementation of accurate seams;
• penetration even into the smallest joints, crevices and gaps;
• highest quality and long life.

Only the high price of funds can be attributed to the minuses, although it is fully justified by all their advantages.

Instructions for use

The procedure for using silicone sealants of this brand is simple, it includes such actions:

• prepare contact surfaces - remove old sealant, clean from dirt, dust, degrease;
• allow the base to dry well;
• apply sealant, spreading on one surface with a layer of optimal thickness;
• close the tube immediately after application with a cap to prevent contact of unused sealant with air;
• after 5-15 minutes, install the parts;
• cure rate is 0.2 mm weld per hour, full cure usually lasts a day.

Reinzoplast sealant is also applied to the base to be sealed with a thin layer after preliminary cleaning, but the parts are fastened together without waiting for time. You can also use the unit immediately, you do not need to wait for polymerization.

Removing old sealant

If the sealant is applied incorrectly or there are remains of the old composition on the parts, you have to get rid of them. For this purpose, a special Victor Reinz Re-Move liquid should be used, which is able to dissolve any sealants, sealants. The composition is based on ether components, it is in aerosol form itself. The liquid is sprayed onto the surface in a continuous layer, and after 10 minutes the sealant can be removed mechanically.

Do fakes occur

Cheap fakes of Victor Rains sealants regularly appear on the market, and such counterfeits sometimes lie both in markets and in stores. When buying, pay attention to the details that distinguish the original:

• highlighted parts of the text in the instructions for use are indicated in bright red;
• The article is registered in gray dye;
• on the edge of the packaging, the release date is written first, then the batch number;
• a mark on the maximum temperature of application is depicted on a bright orange background;
• the name of the manufacturer is reflected at the bottom of the front side of the box;
• areas of use of the sealant are indicated on white icons.

Counterfeit is often produced in gray, light gray tubes, and the original silicone composition in anthracite. In the last batches of sealants, the instruction is placed on the packaging, but is not present inside the box, which should also be considered when choosing. The price of the original will always be higher than a fake, but it’s not worth saving: the use of this sealant guarantees a high quality of repair and a long service life of car components.
