Primer GF-0119 is a mixture based on pentaphthalic (or glyphthalic) varnish, which contains protective fillers and pigments, stabilizers, desiccant with the addition of an organic solvent.

What is it used for?

A surface of wood or metal must be primed before applying a layer of enamel. GF-0119 performs the function of corrosion protection. Before starting installation work, large-sized metal structures are covered with a layer of soil. It is also used for long-term storage of products to avoid surface erosion.

Material properties

After drying, the primer layer becomes dull and smooth with a uniform texture. Brown film GF-0119 has a high adhesive ability, and also lends itself well to grinding. In addition, the material has:

• heat resistance (from -50 to +60 ° С);
• resistance to continuous exposure to moisture and technical oils;
• anticorrosive properties.

Among the basic technical characteristics of the GF-0119 it is worth noting the following:

• drying at t = 18-20 ° С - no more than 12 hours. At t = 105 ° С - no more than 35 minutes.
• the proportion of solid compounds in the components is not less than 53 percent.
• the hardness of the coating on the TML device is 0.15 conventional units.

• the resulting film will not crack, wrinkle or peel off when surface applied with nitro enamel.

Surface treatment before priming

Before applying GF-0119, the surface must be prepared. The metal is processed as follows:

1. Remove dirt, dust from the surface.
2. Using a cord brush, clean the area where rust and scale are observed.
3. Using solvent or gasoline, degrease the surface.
4. Dry the coating.

A wooden product must also be treated before applying a primer. The procedure is simple:

1. Remove segments that do not hold or may fall off from the coating.
2. Sand the surface.
3. Clean it from dust.

Preparation and application of the composition

Before use, GF-0119 should be mixed. You can add solvent or xylene to the composition. Also, a mixture of one of them with a white spirit solvent is allowed (proportion 1: 1). If the method of electrostatic coloring is used, it is recommended to add RE-4V diluent to the composition.

It is possible to put soil in several ways. The method is chosen based on the size and shape of the product. Common Options:

1. Electrostatic application. The most economical way of priming. Due to the electrostatic field arising between the surface to be painted and the spray, the composition evenly lays down from the first application. If the product is made of wood, it must first be moistened so that the material conducts a charge.
2. Jet spraying. With this method, the part is suspended, a primer is applied through the fixed nozzles, after which the product is placed in an atmosphere containing particles of an organic solvent. It slows down the drying of the coating, allowing the soil to spread evenly and penetrate into inaccessible areas.The method is not suitable for large-sized products with vertical "pockets" and involves a large consumption of solvent.
3. Dipping. This application method is used less and less. The part should be completely streamlined. The application method is quick, but includes a large consumption of soil, an uneven layer, streaks at the bottom of the product.
4. Spraying. The method is carried out by pneumatic and hydraulic mechanisms. Suitable for large parts with a low consumption of primer and solvent (in comparison with jet spraying and dipping).
5. Brush application. A simple way that is suitable for home use. It does not differ in the high cost of the primer material, but also does not promise uniform application of the layer. Brush marks on a dried coating can be easily removed with a grinding tool.

Film quality control

The resulting coating should be uniform, uniform, without cracks or other damage. If a deficiency is found, it is recommended to correct it (reapply) to maintain the protective properties of GF-0119 and the quality of the overlay of the subsequent coat of paintwork.

Application of formulations on top of the primer

For coating on top of a layer (in some cases two) GF-0119, paints and enamels on an oil, alkyd, alkyd-urethane basis are suitable. For long-term storage of the primed product, before applying the subsequent coatings, it must be reprocessed:

1. Clean the surface of dirt (salt, grease and oil deposits) using fresh, clean water under pressure.
2. If necessary, treat the surface with an abrasive tool.

Security measures and storage of GF-0119

When working with a primer:

• use skin, eye, and respiratory tract protection;
• to ensure the ventilation of the room during and after work.

Keep the material out of the reach of children, away from open flame and sunlight, in a hermetically sealed container. Observe storage temperature from -40 to +40 ° С.
