Old chairs only at first glance seem like unnecessary, useless trash. But it’s worthwhile to show a little imagination and make a bit of skill, as your old things will live for more than one year and bring a lot of benefit.
Old Chairs - A New Image
The easiest way to upgrade an old chair is to give it a new look. Just make sure that the frame is in good condition and can withstand another cycle of operation. You are lucky if this is Soviet furniture, which is characterized by increased strength.
Stages of restoration:
- If the seat is soft, then it is necessary to assess its condition. Are you satisfied with the quality of the filler and the seat continues to be comfortable? We proceed to the next step. If the soft part is frayed, then a new filler can be made of foam rubber by cutting it in the form of a seat.
- The next step is the choice of cladding. It should be a strong fabric with a tight weave of threads. A shape of a seat with a 10-centimeter margin around the entire perimeter is cut out of a piece of matter. On the back of the seat, the fabric is fixed with a furniture stapler or simply glued.
- The wooden part (legs, back, crossbeams) is cleaned of dirt, skinned to create a smooth surface and covered with paint. Having shown imagination, you can decorate it with patterns, ornaments, applying painting through a stencil. To finish, coat the wooden parts with varnish.
Second wind to old stool
Not always an old chair maintains its integrity. However, only parts of it can be restored:
- from the side parts, using the legs, the horizontal bar and part of the seat, you can make a shelf for detergents and a holder for towels;
- from wooden elements excellent shelves for books, storage of various trifles, hangers for clothes;
- a chair with a wooden seat can become a convenient bedside table on which a lamp, a book, glasses, a glass of water and other little things will fit;
- if a hole is made in the center of a wooden seat and a bowl is inserted into it, such a design will become an ideal feeding trough for a large dog;
- the curly back can be used as a frame for photographs, and if it is mesh, then it is very convenient to store jewelry in its holes.
Old furniture for a summer residence is an inexhaustible source of useful appliances. From a shabby, broken chair, you get a beautiful, decorative flower stand.
The seat with backrest can be used in a children's swing.
Several chairs in a row can be a great garden bench.
