To give the surface a shiny glossy effect, mirror paint is used. There are two shades of chrome mirror surfaces - silver and gold. Below we will understand the features of mirror paints and how to use them.
Fields of application
The main purpose of mirror paints and varnishes is to increase the external attractiveness of a particular part. However, in addition to giving a special surface effect, such a paint is characterized by excellent anti-corrosion properties and high mechanical resistance. The ability to resist rust and mechanical stress is ensured by a thin but strong film formed on the surface of the material.
Mirror coatings are used for coloring many types of materials, including metal, glass, plastic, ceramics, wood. You can even paint concrete walls. Very often, mirror coatings are used to decorate engineering products, for example, automobile and motorcycle parts.

The process consists of two stages:
- training;
- applying paint.
Preparatory work
Before you begin painting the surface, it must be prepared. The level of adhesion (adhesion of dissimilar materials) directly depends on how carefully the surface is prepared.
First of all, we remove dirt and dust from the surface. Next, we grind the material, not forgetting after that to clean the surface again. The last step is the application of a primer.
If we are talking about liquid paint in a jar (usually alkyd) or a powder composition, we dilute them with a solvent in accordance with the instructions indicated on the package. Before applying the spray paint, shake it for 20-30 seconds.
Note! Often, liquid solutions are offered ready to use.
Air temperature should not be lower than 5 degrees Celsius. Recommended humidity level is not higher than 80%. The maximum surface temperature, as a rule, should not exceed 60-80 degrees Celsius. Particular attention should be paid to thoroughly drying the surface before painting, since otherwise high-quality adhesion of coatings with the processed material will not occur.

Mirror coatings are produced both in banks (for example, alkyd paint is usually in containers of 0.9 and 2.8 liters), and in large buckets (25 liters). LKM in aerosol cans are also on the market.
The drying time of the coating is approximately 10-30 minutes. After that, you can apply the next coat. However, the complete drying of the paint occurs within 12-24 hours, when the polymerization process is completed.
The approximate consumption of coatings is 80 grams per square meter of one layer. It is possible to apply paint and varnish material by means of a brush, the roller or a spray. If the paint is applied from a spray gun, the spray can be kept at a distance of 30-35 centimeters from the treated surface.
When working with paints and varnishes, safety rules should be followed.If we are talking about working indoors, you need high-quality ventilation.
Advice! If paint remains in the spray can, it can be saved for future use. To do this, turn the container upside down and press the lever until all air comes out of the spray gun.
Mirror paints are an excellent option if you need to not only give the surface a catchy, glossy look, but also protect it from negative environmental factors. In addition, importantly, such paints and varnishes differ in quite affordable prices.
