The quality of painting largely depends on the correct preparation. One of the most important stages of surface preparation is priming. There are many primers on the market that differ in composition, characteristics and application conditions. One of these compounds is the FL-03K primer.
Description of composition
Technical characteristics of the primer FL-03K:
- temperature operating conditions of the coating - from 60 degrees of frost to 100 degrees of heat;
- resistance to atmospheric influences (rain, snow, wind, hoarfrost);
- immunity to corrosion processes;
- soil compatibility with a variety of substrates (wood, ferrous and non-ferrous metals);
- the primer protects the material from decay and corrosion;
- drying out within 3–8 hours (the specific period depends on the air temperature and its humidity);
- layer thickness - from 15 to 20 millimeters;
- nominal viscosity - 40 (VZ-246 viscometer with a nozzle diameter of 4 millimeters);
- adhesive film qualities - up to 1 point;
- mechanical strength - up to 40 centimeters;
- resistance to static impact - 72 conventional units (at 20 degrees above zero);
- hardness - 0.2 conventional units;
- primer consumption per layer - from 40 to 55 grams per square meter (2 layers are required to create high-quality protection);
- coating color - light brown with a yellow-green tint;
- the appearance of the coating is semi-gloss or semi-gloss;
- mass fraction of non-volatiles - 58%;
- the recommended solvent is xylene along with white spirit (1 part of each substance);
- the ratio of solvent to primer is not more than 20%.

Before applying the soil to the surface, it must be prepared. They do this by two methods - mechanical or chemical. The mechanical method consists in removing traces of corrosion using metal brushes. Chemical treatment consists in applying a solvent to the surface, which allows you to remove the old paint layer, grease and oil stains.
According to GOST, the air temperature when applying FL-03K should be within 5-30 degrees above zero. The maximum level of relative humidity is 80%.
Before using FL-03K, mix thoroughly and add desiccant NF-1 or ZhK-1. The proportion of desiccant should not exceed 4% by weight of the primer.
A solvent is added to achieve the proper viscosity. In this capacity, solvent or xylene is used. Any of these components is mixed with white spirit in a ratio of 1 to 1. The maximum specific gravity of the solvent is 20%.
The prepared composition is applied to the surface of the material to be painted. For application use a paint brush or roller. Pneumatic or airless spraying possible.
According to GOST, 3 to 8 hours are allowed to dry to the third degree of readiness at a temperature of 18–22 degrees.To the fourth degree of readiness and a temperature of 100 - 110 degrees, the surface dries up to 35 hours.
When the primer is completely dry, an additional primer can be applied.

Primer FL-03K is fire hazard. Do not work with the ground near an open flame. Priming is allowed only in carefully ventilated rooms or in the open air and exclusively using personal protective equipment (glasses, a respirator, gloves).
Advice! If the primer is on the skin or mucous membranes, it is necessary to immediately wash the affected area with a warm soapy solution.
Method for storing primers
Store the primer mixture in a tightly closed container. Storage location - a room where there are no heating devices nearby. Direct exposure to beams on containers or storage under conditions of high humidity is not allowed.
The temperature regime in which the primer does not lose its properties is from minus 20 to plus 30 degrees. Shelf life of FL-03K is 8 months, if storage conditions are met.

It is used as protection of wood or metal products before coating with various enamels. It is used for both exterior and interior decoration.
Note! FL-03Zh produces only in yellow-brown color.
Consumption rate per 1 m2 - 200 grams of primer. The primer is applied to a dry, clean surface pre-treated with a degreasing agent. If necessary, the soil is diluted and filtered through gauze, folded in two layers.
FL-03ZH is applied to a dry, previously cleaned of dust, dirt, rust, and then surface degreased with solvent.
Before use, the soil is thoroughly mixed and drier NF-1 or ZhK-1 is introduced in the amount of 4% by weight of the primer. If necessary, dilute and filter through two layers of gauze.
